Written and Directed by Walter Powell and Co-Directed by Clifford Reed Starring Tangi Miller,
After School premiered at the 12th Annual American Black Film Festival.
After School is based on the real life story of Walter Powell when he worked at an After School program in Watts. Finding great actors to portray the well defined rolls in the screenplay was
very difficult. But attaching star power was even more challenging. With these odds against him, Walter still persevered. Tangi Miller and Aloma Wright finally read the script and they both liked it. Aloma Wright costars as a nurse on the hit TV series SCRUBS and Tangi Miller starred in the hit T.V. drama Felicity. Clifford Reed came on board as a co-director and took on the role of Mr. Johnson.
And after the many challenges of producing an independent film, we put together the right actors with the right location. With great determination, we made it happen. Upon wrapping the film we formed one big family. From the parents and the children to the crew and cast, we all did our part and pulled together to make After School what it is today.
